this dog keeps popping into my head so I'm using these nudges as a sign to remember this lesson but also to share it. i have seen many, many stray dogs and been around so many here that I'm beginning to feel like the dog whisperer. but on this day, this dog juuuust flattened me right out!!! like a punch to the gut. there is a part of the island that i had been desiring to explore, i'd been starring at it for a couple weeks now out the window so i decided to go for it one morning. i grabbed some water and my camera and ventured out. i was strolling along and all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye i spotted this guy. he just seriously blew my mind. one... that he looks like some kind of creature that lived with the dinosaurs and two... that he was skin and bones, had a broken back leg and some gnarly teeth. like i said i've been around many dogs here but none that looked like this guy... i couldn't help but stare and wonder what had happened in his life to get him to where he was that day- none of the others dogs looked nearly in as rough a shape has he did.
potential and reality were what i couldn't stop thinking about after i saw him and being grounded and ungrounded. seeing him grounded me into reality pretty fast but floating off into seeing everything as having the potential to change its state can be pretty easy for me. then i remembered the image of the scale that appeared when i was thinking about meditation and it brought me back to BALANCE- always... and that being okay with the reality, whatever it may be is what I'm learning- to be able to sit in it and be present in it for extended periods of time.

he is a reminder that even though this place is a paradise to me it too has its struggles infiltrated throughout just like everywhere else...
-it is a balanced place to be...

Oh god this makes my heart heavy. like in the pit of my stomach too. did you feed him? have you seen him again?
ReplyDeletenope i didn't feed him... just saw him on my walk. am already feeding one when we have extra- of which i probably shouldn't be because i don't want her to become dependant on this place for food after we leave... for the owners sake. on the other hand... is it better to be a positive in her life for a short time or not at all? it's interesting... even crossing paths with a dog. this is our situation and when we leave it will be a different situation... things change, even for dogs. i have not seen that dog again- he was on someone else's property. last time i went on someone else's property i pretty much got chased out by a pack and they bark loud lol so I'm trying to be smart
